Deductibles and Insurance Payment Coordination

Deductibles, depreciation, upgrades, uncovered work, and policy limits all shape what a restoration project costs you. This page explains how those pieces fit together — and how insurance claim payments are actually issued.

Summit works directly with your adjuster to provide estimates and supporting documentation related to our restoration work. Depending on the carrier and claim, insurance payments may be issued to you, your mortgage company, Summit, or multiple parties. Your restoration agreement remains with Summit, and you are responsible for payment according to the terms of that agreement.

What does the deductible pay for?

The deductible is your share of a covered claim. If a covered water loss has an approved scope, the insurance payment issued on the claim is reduced by your deductible amount. You are responsible for that share, plus any work you choose outside the approved scope, under the terms of your agreement with Summit.

How does insurance payment coordination work?

Payment coordination reduces cash-flow friction. Where the carrier and claim allow it, the restoration invoice and supporting documentation can be submitted through the claim rather than asking you to front the entire approved restoration amount. Payments may still be issued to you, your mortgage company, Summit, or several parties together. A complete scope, proper documentation, and a policy that responds to the loss are all still required.

Where do financing and uncovered work fit?

Financing may help with a deductible, an uncovered item, or an upgrade you choose during rebuild. It is not a substitute for claim approval, and it should be discussed after the actual scope is understood.

Questions we hear about this

Is my deductible all I will pay?

Not necessarily. Your deductible is one part of it. Uncovered work, upgrades, depreciation, policy limits, and non-covered causes can all change the amount. Your restoration agreement with Summit sets what you are responsible for paying.

Does Summit waive deductibles?

No. Deductibles are part of your insurance contract. Summit documents the restoration work and invoices according to your agreement with us; we do not make policy obligations disappear.

Can I finance my deductible?

Financing through Acorn Finance may be available for deductibles or uncovered work. Review options after the scope is clear.
