The IICRC S500 is the ANSI-approved standard and reference guide for professional water damage restoration, published by the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC). It's the document behind most of the vocabulary on a water-loss estimate: water categories (how contaminated), drying classes (how hard to dry), inspection and moisture-mapping procedures, and drying verification.
